'Giving local artists a stage to shine'

"Local music and its passionate fanbase have long been a cornerstone of the Lehigh Valley community, shaping the region’s culture and bringing people together through shared experiences," the fair said in a release.

The fair grandstand has previously had festival-style headline shows.

"Local Legends Live is more than a concert, It’s a celebration of the region’s rich musical talent, giving local artists a stage to shine and fans a chance to experience the sounds that define the Lehigh Valley."

In 2000, Nickelodeon’s All That Music & More Festival brought eight pop acts — LFO, B*Witched, mytown, Blaque, A*Teens, Boyz n Girlz United Canon and R Angels — to the stage.

And American Idols Live in 2007 offered 10 performers from the popular TV singing contest show to the fair grandstand — including Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle and Sanjaya Malakar.

And in 2017, the fair offered the Mega/99 Bash — a festival-style show of Latin music featuring “The Pavarotti of Salsa” Tito Nieves, the “Queen of Reggaeton” Ivy Queen and Salsa superstar José Alberto “El Canario.”

But the fair said Local Legends Live "marks the first event of its kind at the fairgrounds."

"Local Legends Live is more than a concert," the release said.

"It’s a celebration of the region’s rich musical talent, giving local artists a stage to shine and fans a chance to experience the sounds that define the Lehigh Valley."
