SOUTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 79-year-old Allentown man has died from injuries sustained in a crash this month, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.

Jack A. Henriquez died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Coroner Dan Buglio said in a release.

Henriquez was involved in a multi-car crash at about 7 p.m. July 11 near Broadway and Springhouse Road in the township. His cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, Buglio said.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the South Whitehall Township Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office are investigating.

Fatalities this month

The Lehigh Valley has seen a spate of fatal crashes on area roadways this month.

Among them:

In addition, a motorist was shot and killed July 6 after he attacked another driver in a road rage incident in Allentown.

Tamir Johnson, 35, of Whitehall Township, died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

The driver who fatally shot Johnson was justifiably defending himself and will not face charges, the district attorney’s office announced earlier this week.

Surveillance footage showed two vehicles — an Audi driven by Johnson and a Toyota Prius driven by an unidentified man — involved in an altercation leading up to the shooting, authorities have said.
