Easton Civil Service Board member to run for city council

Crystal Stoneback Rose is running for Easton City Council. She announced her candidacy on Jan. 22, 2023

EASTON, Pa. — Easton resident Crystal Stoneback Rose has announced she has thrown her hat in the ring for the upcoming Easton City Council election.

Stoneback Rose, who is running as a Democrat, is first vice president and marketing director of Unity Bank in Clinton, New Jersey, where she has worked for 15 years.

She is a member of Easton’s Civil Service Board and has served on Third Street Alliance’s Bistro fundraiser committees. She also has organized several community movie night events on the Karl Stirner Arts Trail.

She also sits on the board of America's Grow-A-Row, a non-profit organization in the agriculture and food sector.

She was born in Easton and is married to Nicholas Rose.

“I’m running because I believe in Easton," Stoneback Rose said in a release. "The decisions made in the next several years will shape our great city for years to come.

"We need to come together to solve our affordable housing issues and better connect our neighborhoods. Everyone deserves to be heard. I am excited to help Easton move forward to a successful future. I care about our community and am ready to deliver results.”

Stoneback Rose said that as a candidate, she "intends to prioritize quality of life issues for residents, unify neighborhoods, support economic and workforce development initiatives, decrease blight, fill empty storefronts and to work with residents to reduce area crime and litter."

“For me, this race is all about centering the needs and voices of residents," she said. "I am excited to represent the residents of Easton and am committed to working hard to ensure that everyone feels heard, and that local issues are brought to the forefront. I want to make sure everyone in our community has a voice at the table.”

Three council seats will be up for election in the May 2 primary — including one left empty by Peter Melan, as he runs for mayor.

Previous campaign announcements for the spots include Ken Greene and Frank Pintabone.
