Be on the lookout for some colorful and crafty public art Friday, as Easton's Downtown district sees 11 artists custom-paint fire hydrants to spruce up the neighborhood.

Palmer Township has been recognized with a historic marker from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, commemorating the spot where the famous Crayola crayon was born.

"Elegance in Stone," an exhibition opening at Peralta’s studio, 1601 West Chew St., kicks off with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. and runs through Oct. 24.

Easton's South Side now has an artistic historic mural, detailing the neighborhood's rich history of famous spots and individuals which have kept the community going for nearly two centuries.

The new exhibition “Here and Now: 100 Years of LUAG, 100 Local Artists,” runs through May 22 and coincides with a community birthday celebration on Sept. 19 at Zoellner Arts Center.

George Gray was the founder of the U.S. Coast Guard Art Program and a combat artist during World War II and in Vietnam. Gray painted 233 murals for hotels across the country. Historic Hotel Bethlehem is the only hotel that still retains Gray's work, and has gained national recognition.

There are five dates left to see thousands of antique miniatures, including 44 dollhouses, all kept in a climate-controlled vault inside the Kemerer Museum. The dollhouses once belonged to Elizabeth Johnston Prime, whose grandfather was Bethlehem's first mayor and Bethlehem Steel chairman.
