While you may think it's as easy as posting a stop sign to decrease driving speeds, as it turns out, a lot more work goes into mitigating traffic accidents throughout Easton.

The crashes were unrelated and both occurred Thursday, according to the coroner's office. Killed were a 17-year-old from Hellertown and a 34-year-old from Forks Township.

Pennsylvania renamed the span carrying Route 512 over the Monocacy Creek in Hanover Township the Raphael Rivera Memorial Bridge. Rivera died following a workplace accident in Williams Township in 2000.

PennDOT contractors began moving in equipment onto Route 611 in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Wednesday to begin road construction. A rockslide in December 2022 shut down the road along the Monroe County-Northampton County border.

The crash happened early Sunday evening at Stefko Boulevard and Bayard Street in Bethlehem. Police say speed appears to have been a factor in the wreck. A second occupant of the vehicle survived.

Three flights departing from Lehigh Valley International Airport on Monday have already been canceled. Officials are urging travelers to check their airline's website.

The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Stefko Boulevard in Bethlehem. Police said speed appears to have been a factor as a car crashed into utility poles near Bayard Street. Stefko Boulevard will be closed "for an extended period," according to police.

A 12-mile northbound stretch of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed for about six hours, between the Quakertown and Lehigh Valley exits.

As part of a series of grants amounting to $30 million, the Lehigh Valley will see nearly $740,000 in funding for "Green Light-Go" improvement projects in Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

PennDOT plans to build a bridge that would bring Route 309 over Center Valley Parkway and West Saucon Valley Road. The department is currently seeking public comment.

Weeks after a dam was removed from the Bushkill Creek in Easton as part of a years-long effort to improve stream health, officials continue to restore its banks. A stabilization project will close the bridge for several hours on weekdays over the next couple weeks.

Lehigh Valley International Airport officials cut the ribbon Thursday on a new restaurant. Two more new eateries will open there later this year.
