Musikfest

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday morning for a seven-level, 731-space, state-of-the-art parking garage on Polk Street in South Bethlehem. It will greatly benefit those attending Musikfest, the 10-day, annual music festival that begins with a preview night Thursday.

A completely dry stretch of weather is almost unheard of this time of year, said meteorologist Bobby Martrich of EPAWA Weather Consulting, the official forecaster of Musikfest.

The first celebration featured an array of talent with an emphasis on local artists.

With around 1 million people expected to attend Musikfest this year, health and safety take top priority for organizers. Everything from cooling misters to medical tents will be on site.

As Musikfest kicks off next week, some notable figures in its history shared their perspectives on the humble beginnings and what it's become. Join in the action in Bethlehem from Aug. 3-13.

Musikfest is set for Aug. 3 to 13. The main stage costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to build, and it takes about two weeks.

The Polk Street Parking Garage will feature 731 spaces, EV charging access, bicycle parking and real-time occupancy monitoring. The Bethlehem Parking Authority is taking requests for $70 monthly parking permits.
