Pennsylvania's 911 system experience intermittent outages Friday, and area county officials notified people they should use non-emergency lines.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Pennsylvania's 911 system experienced intermittent outages Friday, and area county officials notified people they should use non-emergency lines to contact 911 Centers.

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency issued an alert after outage occurred throughout the commonwealth just before 3 p.m. Friday.

Individuals experiencing issues contacting 911 are asked to contact their local 911 Center on their non-emergency lines.

Residents can get further information at their county’s social media sites, according to the notice.

Lehigh County posted the following information on its social media sites about alternate contact numbers to report emergencies:

For Northampton County: 610-759-2200.

For Carbon County: 570-325-9123.

For Monroe County: 570-992-9911.

Residents in need of assistance are directed to contact their local fire and police departments directly.
