BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Join Megan Frank every Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for Insights with LehighValleyNews.com on WLVR.
Each week we’re joined by reporters to talk about the stories they’ve been following. These journalists are experts in their beats and offer you a greater understanding of the stories they’re working on.
This week, politics reporter Tom Shortell tells us how he quickly had to pivot this past weekend from covering a light-hearted story to covering the attacks in Israel and the local impact. Tom also covered the story of a federal grant that will allow the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County to launch a new program. This led to a discussion with Megan about balancing being a journalist with being a human being when reporting on such tragic and emotional topics.
Also, Megan speaks with Health and Wellness Reporter Brittany Sweeney. Brittany looks at difficult news stories from the perspective of the community. She talks with a therapist about how people process the news when the coverage is of tough situations that are unfolding. As well as how to talk with kids about stories of war.
