HARRISBURG, Pa. - A delegation of Allentonians went to the state capital for Gov. Josh Shapiro’s inauguration on Tuesday, including eight students.
Two students each were selected from Allen High School, Dieruff High School, Building 21, and Executive Education Charter School to attend the event in Harrisburg by school officials. Designated school chaperones will also be attending.
Performing at the inauguration will be even more young people via the Lincoln University Choir, the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus and Hazleton Area High School Marching Cougars.
The gubernatorial transition team has been keeping its cards close to the chest, with mystery surrounding funders and what the team actually does. Shapiro’s inaugural team, which will pay for his swearing-in day events on Tuesday, is similarly organized.
The City of Allentown will also be represented by Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk, Councilwomen Cynthia Mota and Natalie Santos, as well as Council of Youth Chair Zaleeae Sierra.
