WASHINGTON - If you’re planning a visit to a national park, you’ll need to pack a mask even if you’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The National Park Service says it is requiring people to mask up because “The majority of the country is currently in substantial or high transmission categories,” parks officials said.
The agency said it’s also following science and CDC guidance.
Park visitors must wear a mask indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces like narrow or busy trails and overlooks. Mask requirements also apply to parks' public transportation systems.
The agency runs more than 400 parks throughout the nation, including Pennsylvania sites like the Delaware Water Gap, Valley Forge, Gettysburgand Independence Mall.
Some parks have reported seeing more visitors than ever during the pandemic.
The mask mandate is in effect until further notice.
