Syracuse, New York (June 9, 2023) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (30-28) offense was in full stride as they pounded out 12 hits and three homers en route to a 9-6 win over the Syracuse Mets (23-36) on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Danny Mendick swatted a leadoff homer in the last of the first to start the scoring for the Mets, but the IronPigs equalized right away in the top of the second on a John Hicks sacrifice fly.

Weston Wilson hit a solo homer in the third, his 14th of the season, to put the IronPigs ahead but the Mets evened the score in the bottom half of the inning with a Tyler White RBI single.

Darick Hall put the IronPigs ahead for good in the fifth. He crushed a three-run homer, his first of the season, to put the IronPigs up 5-2.

In the sixth, John Hicks extended the lead with a three-run homer of his own, his second of the season, before Hall drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

Syracuse got three runs in the sixth on a two-run homer from Jonathan Arauz and a solo homer from Carlos Cortes.

The Mets clawed back one more on a Nick Meyer sacrifice fly, but Ben Bowden (S, 2) spun a scoreless ninth, striking out two to lock down the 9-6 win for the IronPigs.

Trey Cobb (2-1) worked a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and striking out one to earn the win for the IronPigs.

Denyi Reyes (0-2) suffered the loss for the Mets, giving up five runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out four in five innings.

The IronPigs and Mets continue their series on Saturday, June 10 with a doubleheader beginning at 4:05 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium.
