Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 18, 2023) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (63-52, 27-15) used a barrage of long ball to batter the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (56-61, 24-19) by a final score of 12-6 on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Xavier Edwards homered to start the game for Jacksonville before Peyton Burdick roped a two-out RBI single to make it 2-0 Jacksonville.

The first homer of the day for the IronPigs came in the last of the first and tied the game. With a runner on and two outs, Darick Hall popped a two-run homer, his 11th of the season, to tie the game at 2-2.

The IronPigs took a lead they would never relinquish in the second. Cristian Pache singled, stole second, and then advanced to third on a throwing error. Jim Haley brought him in with a groundball to make it 3-2.

Aramis Garcia swatted his first homer of the day, a solo shot in the bottom of the third to double the lead for the IronPigs at 4-2.

Griffin Conine made it a one-run game for Jacksonville as he smashed a solo homer of his own in the fourth.

Haley picked up two more RBI in the last of the fourth as he belted a two-run homer, his 10th of the season, before Dustin Peterson capped the frame with a solo shot, his 15th of the year, to make it 7-3.

Garcia bombed his second homer of the day in the sixth, a two-run shot and his 9th of the season, to make it 9-3.

Cal Stevenson provided the final blow for the IronPigs, as he smoked a three-run homer, his fifth of the campaign, making it 12-3 Lehigh Valley.

Jacksonville got three in the ninth, one on a bases loaded walk from Austin Allen and two on a Burdick two-run double, but Taylor Lehman struck out Jacob Amaya to end the game and secure the 12-6 win.

Shaun Anderson (2-1) earned the win for the IronPigs, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks, striking out one, over five innings.

Devin Smeltzer (4-8) suffered the loss for the Jumbo Shrimp. He conceded seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks, striking out four.

The IronPigs and Jumbo Shrimp continue their series on Saturday, August 19 with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m.
