BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh Valley Public Media tonight will host a special live program, “A Community Conversation: The Changing Landscape of Education.”
It will be broadcast at 6 p.m. Thursday on PBS39 and streaming at PBS39.org. You also can watch here on LehighValleyNews.com.
Hosted by PBS39 Executive Producer Brittany Sweeney, guests will discuss the impact of Trump administration plans to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education and give states and local school districts more control.
They’ll examine the effects on funding, educational standards, student protections and student loans.
Guests include:
- Dr. J. Cameron Anglum, assistant professor at Lehigh University
- State Rep. Peter Schweyer, D-Lehigh and chairman of the House Education Committee
- Aaron Chapin, president of the Pennsylvania State Education Association
- Tracy Piazza, superintendent of the Easton Area School District
- Jack Silva, superintendent of the Bethlehem Area School District
- Zaina Cahill, early childhood education policy director at Children First
- Evelynne Blatt, associate vice president of enrollment at Moravian University
- Sandra Miller, advocacy coordinator of Education Voters
The hourlong program will be broadcast live from the Univest Public Media Center at the SteelStacks campus in Bethlehem.
