BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In an effort to level up to a workforce full of artificial intelligence, 3D printing, coding and other elements of the emerging digital economy, Moravian University on Tuesday launched its new School of Professional Studies and Innovation.

  • Moravian University is launching its School of Professional Studies and Innovation
  • Programs are designed to cater to the careers of working professionals
  • Courses that offer microcredentials and continuing education certificates are the focus of the coursework

The school's new endeavor seeks to meet the needs of working adults by offering flexible course schedules online and in hybrid form. It will benefit students with the skills they will need to "future-proof" their careers, according to a written announcement from Michael Corr, Moravian's assistant vice president of marketing and communications.

The "soft launch" of the program will begin with the fall semester, Corr said, and the evolution of the school's website and more will follow.

"It's constantly evolving," he said.

Moravian President Bryon Grigsby has always been connected to the job market and began tailoring Moravian's graduate programs and continuing studies to its needs over the past several years, Corr said.

The School of Professional Studies and Innovation is part of that evolution, Corr said.

"These are for people who have already earned bachelors or masters degrees."

"There will be microcredentialing courses for working professionals," Corr said. "These are for people who have already earned bachelor's or master's degrees," and might need a continuing education certification in data analytics or cyber security in order to upscale their career.

"These are future-focused, career-relevant programs," Corr said.

"This is how we built the graduate programs we offer," he said. "This follows the same pattern."
