- Cedar Crest College will use a new $1 million grant in state funding to upgrade its softball field
- The school will convert the current grass field to all-weather turf and will add new lighting
- The funding comes from Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program
The funds come from the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
"A new softball field will position our already strong program to succeed at another level, and these updates will help us continue to draw top-caliber athletes," Cedar Crest Director of Athletics Christy Fleagle said in a statement.
The funding will be used to convert the school's grass softball field into an all-year, all-weather turf field with lighting.
In a statement shared by the college, the school said the new turf is expected to “help alleviate limitations due to inclement weather and drainage issues, as well as improve player safety.”
