LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. — The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office and Lower Saucon Township police have announced charges will be filed against a girl in connection with bomb threats made in the school district this week.

According to a statement from the office of District Attorney Stephen Baratta, an investigation into the threats yielded contacts with several people who were able to help identify the individual responsible for the threats, which led to the closure of Saucon Valley School District schools Wednesday and Thursday.

The girl's age was not given, nor was the method of the alleged threats.

Although schools opened again Friday, police beefed up their presence as a precautionary measure.

The district attorney confirmed the charges of terroristic threats will be filed with the Northampton County Juvenile Probation Department, noting the filing of any charge is an accusation, and any person charged is presumed innocent.

Also assisting in the investigation were the Bethlehem Police Department, Palmer Township Police Department, Northampton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police.

On Tuesday, the school district reached out to Lower Saucon police to report a bomb threat made toward the district, leading to a temporary closure.

No evidence was found to corroborate the threat, and the investigation disclosed no credible threat to public safety from any explosive device, police said.

Though nothing was found in connection with the threat, “the making of such threats is a serious matter and is being addressed in a serious manner,” a release from the district attorney’s office stated.

Further details are set to be released as they are made available and if they are permitted, the district attorney's office said.
