ASD’s vendor for its virtual curriculum, EdforTech Alliance, experienced a cyberattack on their financial system, according to a district email sent to parents.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown School District’s Virtual Campus students won’t be able to access their online learning platform Friday, the district announced.

That’s because ASD’s vendor for its virtual curriculum, EdforTech Alliance, experienced a cyberattack on its financial system, according to a district email sent to parents and shared with LehighValleyNews.com.

Students’ academic data was not compromised and remains secure, the vendor told ASD.

“We understand this news is disruptive, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause you and your student."

Though students can’t access the learning platform Friday, they still have career-related assignments to complete online through the program, Smart Futures.

Participation is required for attendance. Teachers will be available via Zoom to answer questions and assist students.

Additional information will be shared with students throughout the day, and the district will provide via email any additional updates about when the virtual curriculum is up and running again.

“We understand this news is disruptive, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause you and your student,” the district’s email reads.

“We have been in communication with [EdforTech Alliance], and they are working diligently to resolve this matter.

"They have assured us they are taking all necessary steps to restore their systems and bring the online program back online as quickly as possible."
