ALLENTOWN, Pa. — There’s a community fair coming to town in Parkland this weekend, and it’s one you won’t want to miss.
- The Parkland School District is hosting a Community Resource Fair, Health Symposium and New Parent Social
- It will be from 9 a.m. to noon on March 18 in the Parkland High School Cafeteria
- Over 90 vendors will be there
The Parkland School District will host a Community Resource Fair, Health Symposium and New Parent Social, from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, March 18 in the Parkland High School Cafeteria, the district announced in a written release Thursday.
The free, community-building and neighborhood networking event is meant for students, family, friends and other members of the community.
There will be more than 90 agencies with booths, almost all of which plan to have activities or free giveaways.
Highlights of the fair include children’s activities; cooking demonstrations by PHS students; a “mock teen bedroom,” to help parents recognize signs of drug and alcohol use; a display of the Air Products Hydrogen Car; a new parent social; a performance by Parkland Strolling Strings.
There will also be 10 health and wellness workshops including The Impact of Trauma on Teens; Support Your Child's Mental & Physical Health with InfoBase; Nutrition for Adolescents; PREP - Prevention Resources and Education for Parents: How to Talk to Your Children about Drugs and Alcohol; Mindful Parenting-Strategies for You and your Family; Anxiety; Navigating the Middle School Years; #Trending: Effects of Social Media; Sports Psychology; and Intro to Teen Dating, Violence & Social Media.
The event is designed to let the community know about the recreational programs, social service agencies, nonprofits, and other community-based agencies available to them.
