PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — One student each from Lehigh and Northampton counties has been awarded $5,000 to further their educations.
Forum Patel from Parkland High School and Austin Martellucci from Easton Area High School each were awarded $5,000 from the Dunkin' of Greater Philadelphia's regional scholarship program. Dunkin' partnered with Scholarship America, an organization that assists communities and organizations with fundraising, managing and awarding scholarships to students.
- Two area students have won scholarships from Dunkin' of Greater Philadelphia. They are:
- Forum Patel from Parkland High School
- Austin Martellucci from Easton Area High School
Patel, Martellucci and 18 other students from the tri-state area were chosen based on academic records, leadership skills and overall commitment to their communities.
Four of the 20 students are Dunkin' employees but the scholarships were open to all high school seniors and college students in southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware.
“We are proud to continue the tradition of furthering students’ educational goals in our community and help lead them to a bright future,” said Perry Shah, Dunkin’ regional advertising committee chairman, in a written announcement.
Patel, a 2023 graduate of Parkland High, will attend Lehigh University to pursue a degree in computer science and business. She graduated in the top 3% of her class and is leading the PNC Foundation Summer Bridge Program and Futuros Empresarios/Future Entrepreneurs Program this summer. She interns at HoverTech International and is conducting research on creative entrepreneurship in the Lehigh Valley.
Martellucci, of Palmer Township, is a 2023 Easton Area High grad who will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. He was an honors student and athlete at Easton as a kicker on the football team. He was also the marching band’s drum major, the president of the Tri M Music Honor Society and a member of the National Honor Society.
This was the 14th year for Dunkin's scholarship competition. To date, the company says it has awarded $700,000 to 340 students.
This year's recipients will be honored at a ceremony Aug. 5 at the Cherry Street Pier in Philadelphia.
