NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — Plans for 105 single-family homes along Rising Sun Road received a recommendation for preliminary final approval from the North Whitehall Township Planning Commission on Tuesday night.
The plan will go before the board of supervisors for full and final approval on Monday.
Known as Rising Sun, the major land subdivision project will be developed on 102 acres of farmland at 1321 Rising Sun Road in Laurys Station, between Fells Creek and the Lehigh River.
The company behind the project, Access Commercial Development, previously received conditional use approval in June 2024.
The planning commission in October tabled the proposal due to concerns by residents about traffic safety and potential stormwater runoff into adjacent waterways.
The planning commission requested the applicant address street and parking area lighting concerns.
The commission approved a waiver deferral request for sidewalks and curbing on Rising Sun Road, and road widening along Neffs Laurys Road.
Yard waste site item tabled
Discussion on the North Whitehall Yard Waste Site land development relocation was tabled.
The waste site is moving to 4600 Old Packhouse Road in Schnecksville from its current location at 3256 Levans Road in Coplay. The move is expected in 2026.
