NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — Township residents have a lot to look forward to this summer.

North Whitehall Township has added several new events to its recreation calendar for the season.

The first will be its Food Truck Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Kolapechka Park.

Township Recreation & Communications Coordinator Courtney Corona said food trucks at the event will include Grubnight, Take-a-Taco, Couchpota-DOH and Mon and Mels Ice Cream truck.

“It's great to support those small businesses and expose them to the community,” Corona said.

Corona said the festival also will have a live DJ and free ax throwing with Angry Jax Mobile Axe Throwing.

Other new events this summer

Three other new events are coming to North Whitehall this summer.

On Friday, July 19, the township’s first community concert will be at the bandshell at Schnecksville Fire Company. SteelCreek Band will play modern country cover songs and rock 'n' roll.

There will be food trucks at the free concert. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and the SteelCreek Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m.

On the Friday before school starts, Aug. 23, the township will hold a back-to-school party at Kolapechka Park from 4 to 8 p.m.

“It's in our backyard, so we're going to take advantage, creating a new event up there and hopefully bring in copious amounts of money."

The free event is open to residents and non-residents. It will have kid-friendly food trucks, Grandpop Bubbles, bounce houses, obstacle courses, music and face painting

The last new event from the summer will not be held by the township, but by Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.

It will hold its first annual Disc Golf Tournament at the new course in Neffs Valley Park.

“It's in our backyard, so we're going to take advantage, creating a new event up there and hopefully bring in copious amounts of money,” Neffs Fire Chief Jim Steward said, jokingly, at a recent township meeting.

The tournament will be Sept. 7, with Sept. 8 as the rain date. More details are to come.
