SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — A warehouse in South Whitehall Township may soon turn into a Walgreens center to fill prescriptions.

The property at 4741 Chapmans Road now is partially vacant. Developers submitted a plan to turn the rest of the property into a Walgreens fulfillment center.

  • The warehouse at 4741 Chapmans Road may soon turn into a Walgreens fulfillment center to fill prescriptions
  • There would be about two truck trips to and from the facility in the morning and in the evening, which is less than what was anticipated with the original plan
  • The building currently has one tenant, Mvnifest, a product design firm also known as Sorry Robots LLC

The 103,000-square-foot building was built on spec, meaning there were no set tenants when it was planned.
It currently has one tenant, Mvnifest, a product design firm also known as Sorry Robots LLC. Mvnifest occupies about a third of the building.

The property is a flex warehouse, or a building that can be used by multiple tenants as both an office and a warehouse.

Eric Friedman, a representative from Walgreens, said the company's fulfillment centers are used to fill prescriptions at a faster rate than behind the counter.

The filled prescriptions then are distributed to the stores in the area.

Friedman said there would be about two truck trips to and from the facility in the morning and in the evening, which is fewer than was anticipated with the original plan.

The planning commission voted to table the plan because the developer did not provide sufficient documentation for the new proposal.

The developer previously received approval for the plan in 2019 under general guidelines for a warehouse, but needed new approval because the proposed tenant is a fulfillment center, which has a different impact than a warehouse.

Other business

The Montar Group LLC Self-Storage Facility proposed at 3350 and 3354 Walbert Ave requested preliminary/final plan review from the planning commission.

The commission granted the developer four waiver requests but did not grant approval because of some outstanding issues.
