WIND GAP, Pa. — Wind Gap will get a $130,000 state grant for a new pavilion at Wind Gap Park, state officials announced.
Borough officials applied to the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenways, Tails and Recreation program for help funding a new, larger pavilion at the park.
The authority approved the $130,000 grant at its Thursday meeting, funded by impact fees charged to companies that operate natural gas wells.
Elected officials representing Wind Gap cheered the grant this week.
“This grant will help create a welcoming space at Wind Gap Park that families, seniors and youth can enjoy for outdoor activities, community events and everyday recreation,” state Rep. Ann Flood, R-Northampton County, wrote in a statement.
Nazareth received an $18,700 grant from the program, which will help pay for planning work on new trails at its newly purchased Black Rock Woods, an extension to the borough’s municipal park.
