EASTON, Pa. — A man convicted of the rape of a Lehigh University student, and later break-ins and attempted sexual assaults in Easton, was sentenced Wednesday to 75-150 years in prison.
Clement Swaby was found guilty by a jury last November of 26 charges in all, including rape, burglary and aggravated assault.

The judge overseeing the case, Michael Koury Jr., said his sentence ensures Swaby will “die alone in a prison cell.”
“I’ve been a judge for 25 years," Koury said after he read the verdict. "I’ve seen a lot of bad people. But you, Mr. Swaby, are the worst.”

“You’re the worst,” Swaby responded, barely audible, as he began to struggle against the police officers holding him in place.
Investigators said that in May 2020, Swaby raped a Lehigh University student at knifepoint in her Bethlehem home.
In February and March 2021, he broke into two Easton homes occupied by Lafayette University students, according to the Northampton County district attorney’s office.
Across both cases in Easton, Swaby threatened three women living there with sexual assault and stole several hundred dollars in cash.
Before his prison term was handed down, the court found Swaby was a “sexually violent predator,” attaching additional conditions to his sentence.
He faced a maximum 269-year sentence.
Separate charges against Swaby are pending in a Montgomery County sexual assault case, and another case in Orange County, Fla.
