EASTON, Pa. — Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck has announced he'll seek another term in office.
Houck was elected Northampton County District Attorney in 2019; this will be his first race defending the seat as an incumbent.

“This job is not a birthright; it is not something you attempt to pad a pension on," Houck wrote in a statement. "To get this job and to be effective in it, you must earn it.
“You must dedicate your life to advocating for victims and for justice. That is why this is more than just a job to me; it is who I am and what I have dedicated my life to. It is why I humbly believe I deserve to be re-elected.”

Houck started his career as a police officer in Philadelphia in 1977, before becoming an assistant district attorney in Bucks County nine years later. There, he eventually was promoted to chief deputy, overseeing the unit prosecuting child abuse and sex offenses.
He joined the Lehigh County district attorney’s office in 2002 to lead the violent crime unit, and came to Northampton County in 2006 to serve as first assistant district attorney.
Houck lives in Easton with his wife, Linda.
Former Northampton County Judge Stephen Baratta also has announced his candidacy for the district attorney post.
