Summer staples are beginning to open for the season and with COVID regulations relaxing in Pennsylvania, things could start to feel more normal.

Sky Fogal, owner of Pocono Whitewater in Carbon County,  says Memorial Day weekend is typically the start of their season and this year they are heading into the holiday with a lot more certainty than in 2020.

Although crowd restrictions are now lifted for many outdoor activities in Pennsylvania, Fogal says they are still being cautious and will not rush to open to full capacity.

“We are still under some limited capacities, especially in the state parks. We have limited capacity on all of our transportation just for people's safety, and we are still requiring masks be worn in any of our buildings, because we don't know who's vaccinated and who isn't,” Fogal says.

Throughout the pandemic, Fogal says, his business tends to follow about a week behind what the governor says about reducing restrictions.

He says once all capacity limits are lifted, Pocono Whitewater will review their rules, but also make sure everyone is safe.

Pocono Whitewater offers rafting, biking, and paintball.
