BETHLEHEM TWP, Pa. – Authorities say three people are now dead from injuries sustained in a wrong-way crash on Route 22 this month.
The Northampton County Coroner’s Office said Monday that Alan W. Heater, 76, of Bushkill Township, died on Saturday, Oct. 14, as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
Barry W. Fulton, 58, of Summit Hill, Carbon County, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday Oct. 15, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.
The cause of Fulton's death was multiple blunt force trauma, Coroner Daniel Buglio said in a release.
Wrong-way crash
Upon arrival at the crash scene shortly after 10:40 a.m., troopers said two pickup trucks and a passenger vehicle were involved in the crash in the highway's eastbound lanes.
John Michael Woodburn, 22, of Bethlehem, who was operating a 1997 Honda Civic, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other drivers were transported to St. Luke’s Anderson for their injuries, police said.
They were identified as Fulton, who driving the wrong way in a red Silverado, and Heater, who was driving a black Silverado.
According to authorities, Fulton traveled southbound on Route 33 North and got off the Route 22 interchange, heading west onto Route 22 East before striking the other vehicles.
State police were looking for witnesses to the crash, as well as anyone who observed Fulton’s red Chevrolet Silverado traveling prior to the crash.
According to the Lehigh County coroner, the crash remains under investigation by state police.
