A military themed, rolling interactive museum designed to educate the public about service and sacrifice of veterans has been rescheduled for the Lehigh Valley

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A rolling interactive museum designed to educate the public about service and sacrifice of veterans that was scheduled for the Lehigh Valley next week has been postponed.

Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit was to have stopped Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery, 547 N. Krocks Road, Wescosville.

But because of mechanical issues with the trailer, the stop has been rescheduled for later this summer, according to John Fitzpatrick, area coordinator for Wreaths Across America.

The exhibit is a 48-foot-long trailer equipped with a 24-person screening room that showcases the different aspects of the Wreaths Across America, or WAA, mission through video.

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit established in 2007. Its primary activity is raising funding to buy wreaths to be placed on the graves of veterans in military cemeteries.

'Bridge the gap'

The front of the mobile education exhibit has three interactive computers to showcase locations, trucking supporters and general wreath sponsorship questions.

The exhibit also displays an education wall of information on the different areas of WAA and where the mission will be going in years to come.

“The exhibit helps bring communities together to learn about the Wreaths Across America mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of freedom."

Locally in December each year, WAA places 1,700 wreaths on the graves of veterans at Resurrection Cemetery, 547 N. Krocks Road, Wescosville.

Local coordinator of the event is John Fitzpatrick of Allentown, an Army veteran and 1983 graduate of West Point Military Academy.

“The exhibit helps bring communities together to learn about the Wreaths Across America mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of freedom,” Fitzpatrick said in an email.

“It also serves to bridge the gap between active duty, service members, veterans and civilians.”

Wreaths Across America conducts events throughout the year.

In addition to soliciting wreaths — donations can be made at the Wreaths Across America website — volunteers replace U.S. flags in disrepair before Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
