ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown firefighters Sunday rescued an unconscious person from a house fire that displaced 16 others and from which another person escaped on to a roof, authorities said.
Allentown Fire Department was dispatched about 10:35 a.m. to the 200 block of North 17th Street for reports of house fire, with the possibility of entrapment, a fire department release said.
The first arriving units found fire coming from a window on the side of the house and declared a working fire, the release said.
One resident had gotten out of the house to a rear roof and was rescued by firefighters, it said.
With additional reports of more people being entrapped, additional paramedic units were called as a second alarm for the fire was declared.
The person was found unconscious on the second floor and rescued by firefighters, according to the release. That person and another who escaped to a roof were taken by Allentown Paramedics to area hospitals — the one who was found unconscious is in serious condition.Allentown Fire Department release
