Twice as funny: Two veteran comedians coming to Easton's State Theatre

Comedian Brian Regan will perform at 7:30 p.m. sept. 25 at Easton's State Theatre. Another comedian, Lewis Black, will perform there Oct. 9. Tickets for both went on sale Friday, April 10.

EASTON, Pa. — A comedian who has made a career out of “clean” jokes will perform at Easton's State Theatre, it was announced.

Also returning to the theater is a two-time Grammy Award-winning comedian known for his angry rants.

Tickets, at $69.50–$109.50 for Regan and $59.98–$110 for Black, and went on sale Friday, April 10, at the State Theatre website and the box office at 453 Northampton St., Easton.

Brian Regan, who has starred in several Comedy Central specials and refrains from profanity and off-color humor, will play the theater at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25, the venue announced.

And Lewis Black, known for his cantankerous comedic style and also as an author, playwright, social critic and actor, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9.

Tickets, at $69.50–$109.50 for Regan and $59.98–$110 for Black, and went on sale Friday, April 10, at the State Theatre website and the box office at 453 Northampton St., Easton.

The shows are part of State Theatre's 100th season.

Regan: Hit specials and TV favorite

Regan starred in the special “Standing Up” in 2007 and “The Epitome of Hyperbole” in 2008.

He also was a featured comedian in a Comedy Central’s animated stand-up show “Shorties Watchin’ Shorties” in 2004 and was a panelist on the NBC-TV show “The Marriage Ref,” which ended in 2015.

Regan has released three Netflix specials and in 2018, his sketch comedy series "Stand Up and Away! with Brian Regan," which was produced by Jerry Seinfeld, was released on Netflix.

He was a favorite of “The Late Show with David Letterman,” appearing on the show more than 25 times from 1999-2011.

Regan’s comedy is observational, taking on life’s stupidities.

Black: Ranting success

Black in 1996 started appearing on the Comedy Central channel’s “The Daily Show” with a rant segment called “Back in Black.”

Since then, he’s had several specials on the Comedy Central Presents series, co-created “Last Laugh with Lewis Black” and presided over Lewis Black’s “The Root of All Evil.”

His popular appearances on Comedy Central helped to win him Best Male Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards in 2001.

Black has released 11 CDs, and in addition to his two Grammy Awards has had three other nominations for Best Comedy Album.

His HBO TV special “Red, White and Screwed” was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2007. He had a regular feature for two seasons on “Inside the NFL” (for which he earned a Sports Emmy).

His latest stand-up special, "Tragically, I Need You," released in 2024, has surpassed 2.3 million views on YouTube.

Black also played the State Theatre in 2013, and in October in what was promoted as his final tour.

He also played Sands Bethlehem Event Center, now Wind Creek Event Center, in 2020, 2017 and 2014.
