Kurt Landes, president and general manager, Lehigh Valley IronPigs

“Foods are such a big part of the experience at the ballpark,” IronPigs’ President said Kurt Landes said. “Giving fans more choices is just another way of giving them another great reason to come out.”

Lehigh Valley IronPigs' Executive Chef Alessandro Buccino has expanded the menu at Coca-Cola Park this season.

More hits, awards, collaborations

Other new menu items include $2 tacos, with a choice of chicken, beef or chorizo; a Nashville crispy chicken sandwich brushed with hot sauce, coleslaw, pickles and spicy mayo on an onion roll and served with fries; a flatbread Marguerita pizza; Carolina pulled pork sandwich, poutine with a choice of chili or pork.

Now in his second season with the IronPigs, the Italy-born Buccino has even created his own signature burger: an Angus beef patty topped with barbecue pulled pork, cheddar and signature sauce.

“I’m really excited about some of the foods we’ve added. They’re new, different and tasty items.
IronPigs’ Media Relations Manager Sam Jellinek

Ideas for many of the new menu items were brought to Buccino by IronPigs’ staff.

“Often, members of our staff see food items out at a fair or online and offer those suggestions,” Landes said.

For those interested in sudsy libations, a new alcohol offering is Beer Bats, a two-foot-high, Wiffle ball-type bat filled with, well, beer.

Also new this season are Rita’s Italian Ice stands, offering gelati and blended, which is a mix of water ice and frozen custard with mixed-in toppings.

“I’m really excited about some of the foods we’ve added,” IronPigs’ Media Relations Manager Sam Jellinek said. “They’re new, different and tasty items.

“I’ve spent the better part of the past eight years [working] in ballparks. When you’re forced to eat ballpark food all the time, you’re looking for some really good food. That’s what we have here.”
