The group is nearing the 45th anniversary of its debut album, "Dawn Patrol," released in 1982. That album hit gold and had the Top 40 hit "Don't Tell Me You Love Me."
But it was Night Ranger's sophomore disc, 1983's "Midnight Madness," that marked its commercial peak. The disc peaked at No. 15 and sold platinum.
It included "Sister Christian," its highest-charting hit at No. 5, as well as "When you Close Your Eyes," a Top 15 hit.
The follow-up album, 1985's "7 Wishes," also sold platinum and reached the Top 10, with the Top 10 hit "Sentimental Street" and Top 20 hits "Four in the Morning (I Can't Take Any More)" and "Goodbye."
Its 1987 album "Big Life" also sold gold and peaked in the Top 30, and its single "The Secret of My Success" peaked at No. 12 on the Rock chart.
Its song "I Did It for Love" in 1988 became its last charting hit, and the band had a brief break-up 1989-91.
Albums continue to chart
But since reforming with five original members — bassist Jack Blades, drummer Kelly Keagy and guitarist Brad Gillis — it has consistently released new music.
Since reforming, the band has released seven albums, with 2011’s “Somewhere in California," 2014’s “High Road” and 2017's "Don't Let Up" all hitting Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart.
And its most recent disc, 2021's "ATBPO" became its first to hit the Top 40 since 1987's "Big Lie."
Night Ranger played Easton's State Theatre with fellow 1980s radio rocker Loverboy in 2017.
It also played Wind Creek Event Center, then called Sands Bethlehem Event Center, with Rick Springfield in 2016 and with Dennis Deyoung of Styx in 2011. That same year, it also played Allentown Fair with Journey and Foreigner.
