EASTON, Pa. — A radio rock band that had 21 Top 40 hits in the 1960s and '70s, is coming to Easton's State Theatre, it was announced.
And a timeless, heartwarming holiday classic state play that has enchanted audiences for generations also will return to the theater, it was announced.
Tickets, at $65–$105 for Three Dog Night and $38.98–$70 for "A Christmas Carol," go on sale at 10 a.m. today, March 20, at the theater website and the box office at 453 Northampton St., Easton.State Theatre website
Three Dog Night, which from 1969-75 had Billboard Singles chart hits such as "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)," "Joy to the World" and "Black and White," will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.
And the stage musical of Charles Dickens’s "A Christmas Carol," the story of Ebenezer Scrooge's visit by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

The shows are part of State Theatre’s 100th season.
Seven gold singles, 'beloved story'
Three Dog Night during that run of hits had more Top 10 songs and sold more records and concert tickets than any other act. Fourteen of its albums sold gold or platinum.
Its chart-toppers included “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” “Joy to the World” and “Black and White,” as well as “One,” “Never Been to Spain,” “Easy to Be Hard” and “The Show Must Go On.”
Seven of its singles were gold-sellers.
The group only has one original member, Danny Hutton. Lead singer Chuck Negron left the band in 1985 and died Feb. 2. The third singer, Cory Wells, died in 2015.
Three Dog Night performed at the Sounds of Summer series at Univest Performance Center in Quakertown in August.
It also performed at State Theatre in 2024.
The national touring production of "A Christmas Carol" brings the "beloved story to life with richly detailed period sets, dazzling costumes, and a talented cast," a release said.
"A Christmas Carol" has performed at State Theatre several times; most recently in December 2023.
