Upper Saucon Fire Department, along with many mutual aid partners, responded to the 1800 block of Flint Hill Road for this crash on Monday night. At least one person was killed, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said Wednesday.

UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. — A 21-year-old Allentown man was killed when a car in which he was a passenger hit a utility pole, the Lehigh County coroner said.

The man, whom Coroner Daniel A. Buglio identified only as John Doe, was in the front seat of the car, which slammed into the pole in the 1800 block of Flint Hill Road about 9:15 p.m. Monday.

He was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday in St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem, Buglio said. The cause of death is being withheld pending further investigation by the coroner's office, Buglio said.

"Due to the sudden and unexpected nature of this tragedy, I am not releasing the individual's name at this time to allow the family the opportunity to mourn properly."

The man has been identified and his next of kin notified, Buglio said.

"However, due to the sudden and unexpected nature of this tragedy, I am not releasing the individual's name at this time to allow the family the opportunity to mourn properly," he said.

He said no additional information will be released at this time.

The incident is being investigated jointly by Lehigh County coroner's office, Upper Saucon Township Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.
