BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A “non-specific threatening message” found inside Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts caused the school to implement lockdown procedures Wednesday, city police said.
The "threat" was deemed non-credible by the school about two hours after the discovery, the school said in a message to parents.
No one was injured, and there was no immediate danger to students or staff, but the investigation continues, a police news release said.
School officials told parents in a message that they should "not arrive at the school at this time. The school day will continue with an abbreviated schedule with regular dismissal at 2:10 p.m."
School officials said they “initiated safety protocols, including restricted movement inside the building,” while the threat was investigated by police.
Police were called just after 11 a.m.
“School administration intends to continue the school day, and will dismiss normally at the end of the day,” the release said. “Police will provide additional presence in and around the building as an added security measure.”
No additional information was released.
