ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Many National Night Out events in the Lehigh Valley have been rescheduled because of tonight's inclement weather forecast.
National Night Out, a nationwide initiative, is meant to bring police and residents together. It is held the first Tuesday in August, which this year is Aug. 6.
“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community," according to the event website.
"Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances."
About a dozen events were planned across the region, and many now have been postponed because of the severe storm threat tonight.
Here's the status of the events:
Allentown Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: Cedar Beach Park, 2600 Parkway Blvd., Allentown
When: 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Alburtis Police Department — Tomorrow
Where: Alburtis Community Pool, 242 Walnut St., Alburtis
When: 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Bangor Police Department — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Bethlehem Township Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: Bethlehem Township Municipal Park, Farmersville Road, Bethlehem
When: 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Easton Police Department at Paxinosa Elementary — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Easton Police Department at Milton Street Playground — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Easton Police Department at Nevin Park — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Easton Police Department at 100 Block of West Milton Street — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Emmaus Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: 400 Jubilee St., Emmaus
When: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Forks Township Police Department —Rescheduled
Where: Forks Community Park, 1606 Sullivan Trail, Easton
When: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Lower Saucon Township Police Department — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Nazareth Police Department — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Slatington Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: Northern Lehigh High School, 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington
When: 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.
South Whitehall Township Police Department — Postponed, will be rescheduled at a later date.
Upper Macungie Township Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: Grange Park, 360 Grange Road, Allentown
When: 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
Upper Saucon Township Police Department — Rescheduled
Where: Hopewell Park, 4695 W Hopewell Road, Center Valley
