NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa.— State authorities have said they're not sure exactly what caused the illness of 13 people at a day care center Wednesday.
Eight children and five adults at the Lehigh Valley Children's Center at 3880 Park Ave. reported headaches and dizziness around 10:30 a.m. and were all taken to the nearby Lehigh Valley Health Network's Cedar Crest campus.
The day care center was evacuated and Pennsylvania State Police officials said it will be closed for the rest of the week.
"The cause and manner of the reason why people became ill in the day care were unable to be determined," state police spokesman Trooper Nathan T. Branosky said in a media release.

Other media outlets have been describing the incident as a "hazmat situation,"flying a news helicopter above to capture images of several firetrucks and emergency vehicles.
State police included no update on the condition of those who were sent to the hospital, nor did they mention any ages or identifying features — though they did say the children were "infants and toddlers."
