The music
The Rumble, featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., 7 p.m. Americaplatz
New Orleans funk band The Rumble and Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. includes members of the former Grammy-nominated Mardi Gras Indian funk band Cha Wa, which broke up last year, led by Boudreaux, whom ArtsQuest Programming Director Patrick Brogan said, “performs in his Native American headdress and his vocals are so dynamic – and a great funk/jazz band behind him. It will be a highlight, both musically and visually at the festival.”
Donna The Buffalo, 9:30 p.m. Stadtplatz
Donna The Buffalo, a folk rock/Americana band from Trumansburg, New York, has has put out 11 albums over its career of nearly 35 years, and headlined Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks in Bethlehem in 2019. Brogan calls it “a classic jam band.”
Choir & Co., 7 p.m. Liederplatz
Bethlehem-based Choir & Co. is the project of local singer/songwriter/music educator Kira Willey – she’s its director. The collective – much like the Canadian music choir did when it was at the festival a few years ago – teaches a song to the audience that everyone then sings in a community setting. “I love that,” Brogan said. “I think that gives goosebumps when you finally get to that crescendo moment of singing together. So impactful.”
Kendal Conrad, 1:30 p.m. Main Street. Also, 5 p.m. Tuesday at Musikfest's Main Street stage and 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at Lyrikplatz
Singer-songwriter Kendal Conrad in 2014 won an online contest to share Musikfest's main stage for a duet with country music star Keith Urban. The Pottstown-based Conrad has since opened for Blake Shelton at Dick’s Sporting Goods Open to a crowd of 18,000 and other artists such as Sara Evans, Alabama, Kane Brown, Jerrod Niemann and Dylan Schneider. Her single "Leader of the Pack" has more than 26 million views on TikTok and 1 million plays on SoundCloud. She’ll also open for main Steel Stage act Dan + Shay tonight.
