Monster Jam truck show to roar back into Allentown's PPL Center

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Monster Jam truck show, which has been popular with yearly shows at Allentown’s PPL Center, will return for three shows in July, it has been announced.

The event, which features trucks 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide, sitting atop 66-inch-tall tires and weighing at least 10,000 pounds, will have sessions at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, and 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14.

Tickets, the prices of which have not been announced, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at www.PPLCenter.com, the center box office or 610-347-TIXX.
PPL Center news release

Tickets, at $16-$82, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the PPL Center website, the center box office or 610-347-TIXX.

Ages 2 and older will require a ticket.

Pit Party tickets, at $20 (you must have a show ticket, as well) also will be on sale. They offer pre-competition access from 10:30 a.m.-noon both days at which you can see the massive trucks up-close, meet the drivers and crews, and get autographs and pictures.

Pit Parties also will have family-friendly activities such as a Sand Box play area, inflatable slides, Spin Master remote-control truck course, coloring and a temporary tattoo station.

There will be no Pit Party for the 7 p.m. July 13 show.

Built for bursts of speed

Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, the trucks can get up to 100 mph and fly up to 125 to 130 feet — a distance greater than 14 cars side by side — and 35 feet in the air.

The trucks, which are extremely loud, race in traditional style, in which the first truck to cross the finish line with the least number of penalties wins.

In freestyle, the trucks drive over cars, and do stunts and tricks.

The Monster Jam tour ends each year in March with the world finals.

Monster Jam truck show most recently was at PPL Center last July, and yearly from 2016-19.
