Hit late-1990s alt-rockers to open for Live at Levitt Pavilion show

Alternative rock band Local H will open for Live at Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — An alternative band that in the late 1990s had a half-dozen rock-chart hits and has put four albums on the charts will be the opening act when Pennsylvania hit rockers Live play the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, it was announced.

Local H, best known for its 1996 Top 5 Modern Rock hit "Bound for the Floor," will take the stage before Live at 7 p.m. June 1.

General admission tickets, at $49 in advance and $52 at the gate, remain available at the SteelStacks website and 610-332-1300.

Local H released its debut album, "Ham Fisted," in 1995, but didn't hit the charts until the 1996 disc "As Good As Dead," which peaked at No. 6 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and broke the Top 150 on the overall albums chart.

In addition to "Bound for the Floor," that disc contained the minor hits "Fritz's Corner" and "Eddie Vedder," which peaked at No. 36 on the Mainstream Rock and No. 38 on the Modern Rock charts, respectively.

The band's follow-up 1998 disc "Pack Up the Cats," peaked at No. 7 on the Heatseekers chart and 140 on the overall albums chart, with two hits on the Active Rock chart: No. 14 "The Kids are Alright" and No. 34 "All-Right (Oh Yeah)."

Local H had its last charting single with "Half-Life," which hit No. 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart, from the 2002 album "Here Comes the Zoo," which peaked at No. 29 on the Heatseekers chart.

But its albums continued to chart: 2008's "Twelve Angry Months" reached No. 18, 2012's "Hallelujah, I'm a Bum" hit No. 8, and 2015's "Hey Killer" reached No. 4, all on the Heatseekers chart.

Its most recent studio album was 2020's "Lifers," which failed to chart. It also released an EP, "Local H's Awesome Quarantine Mix Tape #3" in 2021.

The only original member remaining in the group is lead singer/guitarist Scott Lucas.
