QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — A jam band whose biggest hit set a record in the 1990s for the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart will perform at Quakertown’s Univest Performance Center, it has been announced.
It will be joined by a band that had five Top 30 hits in the 1990s.
Blues Traveler, which also in the 1990s had five gold and platinum albums and whose 1990 hit "Run-Around" spent 49 weeks on the Top 100, will perform Aug. 24. Blues Traveler last year celebrated 35 years as a band.
It has had five gold and platinum albums, from its 1990 self-titled debut to its 1994 album “four,” which sold six times platinum, broke the Top 10 and produced the Top 10 hit “Run-Around” and Top 30 hit “Hook.”
The band won a Grammy Award as author of “Run-Around,” which set a then-record for most weeks on the Billboard charts.
Blues Traveler appeared at the 25th anniversary of Woodstock in 1994, and was an opening act for The Rolling Stones.
In all, Blues Traveler has released 16 studio albums, the latest of which was "Traveler's Soul," released in October. It also has had three live albums and four compilation discs.
Fifth concert scheduled for series
Big Head Todd and The Monsters had the Top 15 hits “Bittersweet” and “Broken Hearted Savior,” as well as the Top 30 “Circle” from its 1993 album “Sister Sweetly,” and the Top 15 hit “Resignation Superman” from the follow-up “Beautiful World” in 1997.
“Sister Sweetly” went platinum and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Its 1994 album “Strategum” became its highest-charting disc, reaching No. 30 on Billboard’s overall chart. “Beautiful World” in 1997, which peaked at No. 54, also had the Top 30 Mainstream Rock hit “Boom Boom.”
In all, Big Head Todd and The Monsters has released 14 studio albums, six live albums and a compilation disc.
It has a new disc, "Her Way Out," scheduled to be released May 31.
The show is the fifth to be announced for the Sounds of Summer series at the amphitheater at 301 W. Mill St. Tickets remain available for every show.
Scotty McCreery, who won “American Idol” in 2011 and since has released three No. 1 Country chart albums, will perform at 6 p.m. June 21. Tickets are $42 lawn and $62 to $147 reserved.
LoCash, which had three Top 10 Country chart hits, including 2016's No. 1 "I Know Somebody," will perform at 6:30 p.m. July 19. Tickets are $35 lawn to $120 for front-row seats.
Southern rockers .38 Special, best known for the 1981 hit “Hold on Loosely” and 1982’s “Caught Up in You,” will perform Aug. 16. Tickets for that show are $40 lawn and $50-$120 reserved.
And The Hooters, the Philadelphia band best known for hits 1980s hits "Day By Day" and "And We Danced," will perform at 6 p.m. Aug. 23. Tickets are $40 lawn and $50-$70 reserved.
