BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A chart-topping band that in the early 1990s had a half-dozen No. 1 hits on the Rock chart and recently released its first album of new songs in 15 years will play Wind Creek Event Center, it was announced Monday.

The Black Crowes, best known for its No. 1 hits "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels" will perform at 8 p.m. May 3 at Wind Creek.

Tickets, the prices of which have not been announced, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at www.windcreekeventcenter.com. Presale starts at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.

The band, formed in 1984 by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, is scheduled to release its first album in 15 years, "Happiness Bastards," on March 15.

The first single from the disc, "Wanting and Waiting," was released Jan. 12.

40th anniversary, end to feuding

This year marks 40 years since The Black Crowes formed.

In 1990, it released its major-label debut album, "Shake Your Money Maker," which sold five times platinum, hit No. 4 on the Albums chart and produced the hits "Jealous Again" and "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels," all of which hit No. 1 on the Rock chart.

The band's sophomore disc, "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion," hit No. 1 on the albums chart and sold double platinum with four No. 1 Rock hits: "Sting Me," "Remedy," "Thorn in My Pride" and "Hotel Illness."

But its third album, 1994's "Amorica," only sold gold and peaked at No. 11.

The band, which is famed for its personal riffs, announced a hiatus in 2002, but reassembled in 2005.

It announced another breakup in 2015 because of a disagreement between the Robinson brothers, but came back in 2019 with plans for a 30th anniversary tour for "Shake Your Money Maker," only to have that interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement of the new tour Monday said it will include 35 dates kicking off at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House on April 2.
