BETHLEHEM, Pa. — ArtsQuest's Ice Rink at SteelStacks, which debuted to crowds last winter, will return for a second year — bigger and for a longer period, officials announced Wednesday.
It also will offer more food and beverage options, as well as nearly two dozen themed skating night — including a Taylor Swift-themed night on Dec. 13, her 34th birthday — ArtsQuest said in a release.
The expanded ice rink, which will be 50-by-120 feet — 1,500 square feet bigger than last year — will officially open Tuesday, Nov. 21, and run through Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 15, according to the release.
That's two weeks longer than ArtsQuest ran the rink last season.
“We are thrilled to return it — bigger and better — this season and look forward to it becoming an annual tradition for families from the Lehigh Valley and beyond.”ArtsQuest Chief Programming Director Patrick Brogan
“The Ice Rink at SteelStacks instantly became one of the best holiday additions to the SteelStacks campus," ArtsQuest Chief Programming Director Patrick Brogan said.
"During the first year, the whole community came out to take advantage of this unique opportunity to skate in front of the breathtaking backdrop of the SteelStacks during the holidays.
“We are thrilled to return it — bigger and better — this season and look forward to it becoming an annual tradition for families from the Lehigh Valley and beyond.”
This year, ArtsQuest will offer a new food and beverage tent adjacent to the rink that will include a full bar, hot chocolate, coffee, snacks and more, in a partnership with Levy Restaurants, the ArtsQuest release said.

The rink also will operate during Christkindlmarkt on the SteelStacks campus Nov. 17-Dec. 17.
Skating sessions will last 75 minutes (with a 30-minute break in between) and there will be multiple sessions each day.
