ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown Diocese has chosen a national collegiate administrator as its new superintendent of education, it announced Wednesday.
Michael St. Pierre will assume the position as the diocese's fifth superintendent effective Aug. 1, the diocese said in a news release.

A lifelong Catholic educator, St. Pierre for the past seven years has been executive director of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association, leading more than 600 members at 350 colleges and universities nationwide.
St. Pierre will oversee the management, supervision and direction of all educational programs of the diocese, but not at DeSales and Alvernia universities, the diocese said.
He will replace Philip J. Fromuth, who will retire in August after 21 years as the diocese's superintendent and 43 with the school system.

Other leadership positions St. Pierre he has held include president of Morris Catholic High School in Denville, New Jersey; dean of students and department chairman of Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, New Jersey; and director of campus ministry of Archbishop Curley High School in Baltimore.

A graduate of The Catholic University of America, St. Pierre received a master’s degree in educational policy and leadership and a master's in theology, both at Seton Hall University; and a doctorate of education at the College of St. Elizabeth.
St. Pierre and his family are members of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Palmer Township.
The diocese said St. Pierre will work with Fromuth throughout August "for a smooth transition in preparation for the new school year opening Aug. 28."
