3 bands that ruled 1990s charts to play together at Wind Creek

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Three 1990s hitmakers of alternative music are coming to Wind Creek Event Center to play a triple-headliner show, the arena has announced.

Gin Blossoms, who had the hits “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Til I Hear It From You” and “Follow You Down,” will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Wind Creek Event Center.

Tickets, at $49.50-$79.50, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15 at www.windcreekeventcenter.com.

They’ll be joined by double-platinum early 2000s chart-toppers Vertical Horizon, whose 1999 major label debut album “Everything You Want” spent an astonishing 71 weeks on Billboard’s Albums chart and produced four Top 25 hits.

Also on the bill will be Toad The Wet Sprocket, who had the Top 10 hits “Fall Down,” “All I Want,” “Something’s Always Wrong” and “Walk The Ocean.”

Groups ruled 1990s charts

The show unites three acts that from 1991 to 2001 collectively produced 17 Top 20 alternative hits and five gold and platinum albums.

Gin Blossoms first found success with its 1992 album “New Miserable Experience,” which went four times platinum and produced four hits: the gold “Hey Jealousy,” the No. 1 “Found Out About You,” as well as “Until I Fall Away” and “Allison Road.”

The group also had Top 3 hits with “Til I Hear It From You” from the soundtrack of the 1995 movie “Empire Records,” and “Follow You Down” from its 1996 sophomore disc “Congratulations, I’m Sorry.”

It since has released three more albums, with the most recent being 2018’s “Mixed Reality.”

Gin Blossoms last performed in the area at Musikfest Cafe at SteelStacks in 2021.

Vertical Horizon found success with its third album, 1999’s “Everything You Want,” which sold double platinum and produced three Top 10 Adult chart hits.

Toad The Wet Sprocket first hit platinum with its third album, 1991’s “Fear,” which included the Top 10 pop hits “All I Want” and “The Ocean.”

Its follow-up album, 1994’s “Dulcinea,” also sold platinum and had the hits “Fall Down” –- which topped the Modern Rock chart –- and “Something’s Always Wrong.”

It also had a hit from a soundtrack: 1995’s “Good Intentions” from the “Friends” soundtrack. And its final chart appearance was 1997’s “Come Down” from its album “Coil.” A 1995 compilation disc, “In Light Syrup,” also hit gold.

The group has released two albums since, with 2021’s “Starting Now” its latest.

Toad the Wet Sprocket last played in the area at Musikfest Cafe in 2011.

Vertical Horizon found success with its third album, 1999’s “Everything You Want,” which sold double platinum and produced three Top 10 Adult chart hits: the chart-topping title track, the No. 4 “You’re a God” and the No. 7 “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning).”

The group’s next album, 2003’s “Go,” had two Top 20 hits, “I’m Still Here” and “Forever.”

It has released three albums since, with its most recent being 2018’s “The Lost Mile.”

The group’s only remaining original member is vocalist Matt Scannell.
