WEISENBERG TWP, Pa. — GEODIS Logistics, LLC, a French freight logistics company with locations in Weisenberg Township, Breinigsville and Bethlehem Township, has alerted the state Department of Labor and Industry it will lay off 107 workers in Berks County.

  • GEODIS Logistics, LLC, has alerted the state Department of Labor and Industry it will lay off 107 workers
  • The company's notice to the state Department of Labor and Industry says the layoffs will be in Kutztown, but lists the address for its Weisenberg Township operation
  • The notice is required under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN

The notice was filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, which gives employees 60-days notice of mass layoffs or plant closures.

It's required for layoffs of 500 people or more, or if the layoff represents at least a third of a company’s workforce.

GEODIS Logistics' Kutztown location, listed on the notice, is 9750 Commerce Circle, which is actually in Weisenberg Township, not Kutztown. That would place it in Lehigh County rather than Berks.

It's also unclear whether employees at the company's Breinigsville or Bethlehem Township locations will be affected.

GEODIS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
