5 Things to Know today: Presidents Day and Polar Plunge

About 900 people took a dip in the Delaware River Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, for the annual Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge.

Today is both Presidents Day and National Comfy Day, so if you happen to have the day off, remember to wrap up in something warm and cozy like a hoodie or blanket.

1. The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, N.J. tells us that today will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and a high near 55 degrees. There will also be winds of 5-10 miles per hour with gusts up to 20 m.p.h. The night will remain mostly cloudy with a low of 37.

2. Doctors with Lehigh Valley Health Network say many people don’t know that complications during pregnancy can increase the risk of developing heart problems.

3. About 900 people sprinted, jumped, inched and squealed their way into the water of the Delaware River as part of the annual Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge.

4. Sunday was the first day of Fountain Hill Restaurant Week, but don't worry, because it continues through Saturday.

5. A man is facing murder and other charges in the death of a Temple University police officer shot and killed near campus Saturday night, authorities said. The officer has connections to the Lehigh Valley.
