Heads up! Here are 5 things you don't want to miss today

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day commemorated to celebrating Dr. King and his legacy. The following are what you need to know about the holiday and some important stories:

1. If you're looking for events and volunteer opportunities, we've got you covered. Read what you can do to devote your day to service or to celebrate, a cinema tribute, a candlelight vigil and more.

2. Local organizations such as the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley are using volunteer opportunities as an act of service to present a core value of MLK Day, which is to contribute to and form connections within the local community.

3. The Allentown Art Museum held performances and displayed diverse artworks to celebrate MLK Day on Sunday. Read more here.

4. The Diocese of Allentown is closing the Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul in Portland and merging the parishes of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Bangor and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Roseto due to a priest shortage. Learn more about the change.
