Heads up! Here are 5 things you don't want to miss today...

Here's a sweet way to start the day — perhaps with a piece of chocolate?

Dec. 28 is National Chocolate Candy Day, which is likely all the encouragement some of us will need to dive into the last of the truffles and other assorted goodies received for Christmas.

But if your stocking was short on sweets and you're out and about today, maybe you'll want to visit one of these Lehigh Valley chocolatiers?

1. One of my favorites is Dolce Patisserie, where chef Alan Pitotti makes some of the best handcrafted chocolates you can get your hands on. Available flavors include key lime pie, passion fruit, coffee, peanut butter and jam, orange creamsicle and many more.

Dolce Patisserie is located at 23 Main Street at the Shoppes at Hellertown.

2. No visit to Main Street in Bethlehem would be complete today unless you pop into the Chocolate Lab. It offers milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, seasonal chocolate and other goodies. Their truffle collection, which features ganache filling, is a popular choice.

The Chocolate Lab is at 446 Main Street in Historic Bethlehem right next to Moravian Book Shop.

3. Josh Early Candies is a Lehigh Valley favorite, and basically a chocolate lovers paradise. You'll find small batch chocolates, nonpareils and so much more. They've been serving up chocolate since 1904 and you'd be hard-pressed to find a local who doesn't love Josh Early.

Find them at 3620 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem.

4. You can't walk into the Easton Public Market without dropping into Chocodiem, which specializes in Belgian artisan chocolates. Their truffles are made up of chocolate ganache dipped and coated in a chocolate shell. They're available in a wide variety of flavors, such as black cherry, espresso, prosecco, red wine and strawberry and more.

Find them at 325 Northampton Street, Easton.

5. If you're in the Breinigsville area, a stop at Premise Maid is a must. Their chocolate shoppe is an experience, not just a destination, and you'll find choices such as Swiss chocolate truffles, peanut butter bon bons, and vanilla caramels.

Find them at 10860 Hamilton Blvd, Breinigsville.
