Heads up! Here are 5 things you don't want to miss today

The countdown continues as we march toward Turkey Day. And what a coincidence: Today is National Cranberry Relish Day! What are the chances, right? Public media, of which LehighValleyNews.com and 5 Things are a part, are especially fond of the relish recipe NPR reporter Susan Stamberg's has shared over the years which she learned from her mother-in-law and calls "Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish". Enjoy!

1. You're getting warmer...It's true. The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, NJ, says the temp is creeping up today, however slowly and slightly. The high today is predicted to be 47 degrees, up a smidge from Monday. Tomorrow should be warmer still. Tonight's low dips to the upper 20s and not a cloud to be seen.

2. Members of the transgender community who were victims of violent crime were remembered Sunday in the Allentown Arts Park. Dozens of people braved frigid temperatures to attend Transgender Day of Remembrance.

3. Godfrey Daniels' founder Dave Fry has written a book about the storied establishment that he opened in 1976.

4. Small Business Saturday is coming up at the end of the week and Easton entrepreneurs are hunkering down to make the most of the day.

5. No pussyfooting around this: There's a very humane reason Allentown City Council has banned declawing cats.
